CTM Harpley apprentice wins prestigious Charles Bennington Achievement Award

We are proud to share that our apprentice, Harry, has been recognised with a prestigious county award celebrating excellence in the next generation of engineers.

Harry, who will mark one year with CTM Harpley Engineering this July, is currently completing his Level 2 Agricultural Service Engineer apprenticeship. During his time with us, he has gained hands-on experience working with Ropa beet harvesters, Maus loaders and CTM cleaning and weeding equipment, while developing his skills across hydraulic and electrical systems, welding and fabrication, and supporting on breakdown call-outs.

The Charles Bennington Achievement Award was established in memory of Charles Bennington, who tragically died in a car accident on March 1, 2023, aged just 17.

Despite his young age, Charles left a lasting impression on those around him. Known for his kindness, maturity and work ethic, he built friendships across generations and backgrounds, and was widely respected both personally and professionally.

Created by Charles’ family in partnership with HG Wells Ltd, the award recognises apprentices who demonstrate the same dedication, character and passion, while also supporting their development with a grant towards equipment.

Harry was presented with the award at a ceremony attended by industry professionals and Charles’ parents, who continue to play an active role in celebrating young talent in the sector.

Gilles Van Buynder, Service Manager at CTM, said:
“We are very proud of Harry for winning the Charles Bennington Achievement Award.

“It was a wonderful evening seeing him receive the award and speaking with Charles’ parents about the meaning behind it. They showed a genuine interest in Harry and the work he has been doing so far at CTM.

“We want the best for our apprentices, and it is great to see Harry’s hard work recognised not just within the company, but across the wider industry.

“Hopefully this will inspire future agricultural engineers to aim for the same high standards.”

Adrian Mountain, Service Director at CTM, also praised Harry’s achievement, highlighting our ongoing commitment to developing skilled engineers for the future.

For us at CTM Harpley Engineering, Harry’s success is both a proud moment and a reflection of the strength of our apprenticeship programme.
